2021 Houghton Stripe Sauvignon Blanc Semillon

Background Information
Houghton was founded in 1836 by a syndicate of British Army Officers and name after the most senior of the three – Lieutenant Colonel Richmond Houghton. Houghton has built an enviable reputation shaping the Western Australian winemaking landscape. The Houghton Stripe range epitomises the flavoursome, vibrant style of Houghton.
Winemaker’s Notes
The grapes were crushed, chilled and gently pressed to retain the bright fruit flavours. The juices were then fermented separately in tank at cool temperatures to enhance the varietal characteristics of the wine. The wine was briefly matured on lees to build texture and complexity before final blending prior to packaging.
Tasting Notes
Pale straw with a luminous and youthful hue hue, the bouquet is bright and displays intense tropical fruit aromatics of passionfruit, pineapple lime, crystallised ginger and a hint of rose petal. The flavoured and citrusy palate displays flavours of lemon zest and candied peel, guava, pineapple and green apple which leads to a lovely finish. Best enjoyed fresh and youthful.
