Houghton was founded in 1836 by a syndicate of British Army Officers and name after the most senior of the three – Lieutenant Colonel Richmond Houghton. Houghton has built an enviable reputation shaping the Western Australian winemaking landscape. The Houghton Stripe range epitomises the flavoursome, vibrant style of Houghton.
Winemaker’s Notes
Machine harvesting at night ensures the fruit is picked in optimal conditions to retain freshness and flavour. Gentle processing of fruit preceded cold settling and cool fermentation to ensure vibrancy and freshness is retained.
Tasting Notes
Pale straw in colour with tinges of gold. The nose displays bright, fresh aromas of lemon citrus, stone fruits and tropical fruit salad with subtle spicy notes. On the palate there is fresh tropical and citrus flavours which carries onto a softly textured and juicy palate. Lovely balanced acidity supports a sustained finish. Houghton Chardonnay Verdelho is best enjoyed whilst fresh and youthful.
