Tasting Notes:

Brilliant and vibrant Strawberry red, Aromas of strawberries, beetroot and black cherry with flashes of cardamom and anise. Further complexed by subtle influence of French oak spice.The palate is juicy and sweet fruited, full of ripe berry fruits, cherries and fine tannins. Subtle use of oak combines with a mineral acid drive to provide a palate of balance and texture.

Vintage Conditions:

An excellent lead-up to harvest saw moderate yields and good berry size with cooler conditions for most of the growing season. A vintage without extremes of heat and later ripening than recent vintages saw fruit ripen slowly and steadily. Picked at optimum maturity then made in a way that combines old and new world techniques.

Winemaking:

A wine of delicacy and finesse with aromatic spice, providing texture and complexity. The handpicked fruit was carefully sorted and fermented in small open top fermenters keeping each clonal batch separate. Twenty five percent whole bunches were used in the ferments and natural yeasts were promoted. Each parcel was pressed into 30% new French oak to complete fermentation. Following 10 months maturation in oak without racking, the parcels were blended, fined and filtered.
