2018 Reserve Chardonnay
Close to harvest, the fruit is checked on an almost daily basis to ensure the ideal balance of fruit flavour to natural acidity. Brookland Valley Chardonnay is consistenly harvested as some of the earliest fruit in Margaret River, a unique and interesting fact. Whilst achieving full flavour ripeness, an earlier harvest reduces exposure to the potential February heat and thus creates a natually balanced wine.
Individual patches of 100% Gingin clone Chardonnay are hand-picked from Block 302 from our Estate, overlooking the Wilyabrup Brook in Margaret River. The hallmark attributes are medium to long term cellaring potential and expressive varietal fruit.
The winemaking techniques employed in the production of the Reserve Chardonnay are hands off – gentle handling, indigenous primary and malolactic fermentation and lees stirring. The resultant wine really is a representation of this special part of our Chardonnay block with its intense flavours, fine phenolics and restrained acidity.
